A well-established and highly respected regional law firm is actively seeking two attorneys to join its growing Insurance Defense Litigation Practice Group in Kansas City. These are urgent hiring needs, and the firm is prepared to begin interviews immediately.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative litigation team, work directly with an equity shareholder on an established book of business, and gain meaningful responsibility handling complex litigation matters.
Open Positions
Senior Insurance Defense Attorney
Experience: 7+ years
Compensation: $150,000 - $200,000
Requirements:
- Significant insurance defense litigation experience required
- Ability to independently manage complex litigation matters from inception through resolution
- Strong deposition, motion practice, and client management experience
- Trial experience is highly valued
Associate Attorney
Experience: 3+ years
Compensation: $120,000 - $140,000
Requirements:
- Insurance defense experience preferred
- Personal injury litigation experience will also be considered
- Strong writing, analytical, and case management skills
- Desire to develop and expand litigation expertise within a supportive team environment
Responsibilities
Attorneys in both roles will:
- Manage litigation matters independently and collaboratively
- Conduct fact investigations and case assessments
- Prepare and respond to written discovery
- Handle document productions and related discovery tasks
- Prepare witnesses for depositions
- Take and defend depositions
- Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents
- Analyze insurance policies, contracts, and related legal documents
- Prepare for and attend hearings, mediations, and court appearances
- Assist with and participate in trial preparation and trial proceedings
Qualifications
- Active Missouri law license required
- Kansas licensure is a plus
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced litigation practice
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment
Schedule & Location
- Kansas City, Missouri
- Hybrid work arrangement available for local candidates
- Monday through Friday, standard business hours
- Paid parking provided
Billable Requirement
- 1,800 billable hours annually
